Know Different types of Waiting Lists
Mainly there are four types of Waiting Lists in Indian Railways.

  • GNWL (General Waiting List)
  • CKWL (Tatkal Waiting List)
  • PQWL (Pooled Quota Waiting List)
  • LDWL (Ladies Quota Waiting List)

General Waiting List

this is a typical waiting list for all.any one can get the ticket from this quota.this is a preferable to book a ticket because there are no preferences to anyone (or) any station.there are chances to get at least RAC if the waiting list is less. see the below example to know about general waiting list tickets.
ex:   GNWL20/WL10
GNWL20 is the total waiting List
WL10 is Current Waiting List

Tatkal Quota Waiting List

This quota waiting list is released a day before train departure.These quota tickets are very hard to get it confirm.Tatkal waiting list ticket booking is preferable when current waiting has below 40% of the total waiting list.

Pooled Quota Waiting List

this quota waiting list is very useful for short-distance travelers.if anyone traveling from one station to next station (or) or between stations to the source and destinations then this quota tickets will get confirm.these quota waiting list tickets are preferable for two in between station traveler.

Ladies Quota Waiting List

these quota waiting list tickets are only for Female passengers.this quota tickets are preferable to book and have high chances to get confirm.better to avoid booking when total to current waiting list difference is too low.
