Difference Between Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets on IRCTC

Indian Railways introduced New ticket quota called Premium Tatkal.This quota ticket will be sold by under dynamic pricing concept.That means ticket cost will not be same always.The premium tatkal cost will be increased if it's demand is high or vice-versa.Premium ticket fare will be like ticket basic ticket price + 10 to 30 percent of ticket base fare.

Tatkal Waiting List

This quota ticket will be opened after 11 AM and before 1 days of train departure.For example, if you wants to journey on July 2nd by train then you should book your tatkal ticket on July 1st from 10 AM for AC class and 11 AM for sleeper class category.The tatkal tickets will be available in IRCTC website as well as at Railway stations counters also.These quota tickets are allowed to book waiting list and RAC tickets also.So that these are not tickets confirmed tickets always.If still, your ticket in waiting list status even after chart preparation then your waiting list ticket will be canceled and your money will be refunded with charging a service fee.

Regular tatkal ticket fare will be like below follows structure.

• Tatkal Ticket Fare=Basic Fare+Tatkal Charges

Premium Tatkal Waiting List

This ticket quota is newly introduced in IRCTC website only.Premium Tatkal tickets are not available in Railway stations.These quota tickets are not allowed to book tickets by agents.These quota tickets are costly with compared to normal tatkal tickets.But this scheme is so useful for who travels on very short notice.Premium Tatkal tickets booking time is as same as regular Tatkal quota ticket timings only.These quota tickets are only allowed to book available tickets only.There is no facility to book waiting list or RAC tickets.

• Premium Tatkal Ticket=Ticket Base Fare + Dynamic Tatkal Charges (10-30% of base Fare) 

Important Notes for  Premium Tatkal Quota

• The money will not be refunded for canceling P.T confirmed tickets.

• There is no fare concession for child passengers tickets.

• Ticket agents are not allowed for PT ticket booking.

• Carrying any Government issued Identity Card is compulsory.

• Premium Tatkal Tickets are only available in online.

• Booking Waiting List Tickets and RAC tickets are not allowed.

• Ticket fare will depend on season and demand.
